What's New at TripLog - January 2026

We’re starting the new year with updates focused on giving admins more control and ensuring compliance across your organization. Thanks as always for using TripLog!

Updated 2026 Mileage Rates

We’ve updated TripLog with the new standard mileage rates for 2026.

The US rate is now 72.5 cents per mile (up from 70 cents), and the Canadian rate is now 73 cents per mile (up from 72).

New Approval Lock for ‘Accountant’-level Permissions

Users with ‘Accountant’-level permissions can now temporarily lock the ability for others with approval permissions from approving trips, expenses, or time entries until an ‘Accountant’ unlocks them.

When locked, a lock icon will now appear next to approval buttons to show the current status to approval managers, and ‘Accountants’ can toggle the lock on and off from their dashboard.

Enhanced Admin Controls for Commute Mileage

Admins now have more control over employee commute deductions!

You can manage commute mileage settings directly from the Users page and set effective dates for commute changes, perfect for scenarios like when employees move or their commute distance changes.

A new setting also lets you control whether employees can adjust their own commute mileage or if only admins can make these changes.

Spending Limits Now Enforced During Approvals

Spending limits now prevent both submission and approval of over-limit expenses.

Previously, spending limits only blocked users from submitting expenses but didn’t warn managers who tried to approve them. Now, if an expense exceeds the spending limit, managers will be blocked from approving it as well.

Other Bug Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed an issue where supervisors could be assigned to users outside their organization during user imports.

  • Enhanced audit trail tracking now captures more detailed information about expense edits and deletions, including changes to amounts, categories, locations, source, and tax fields.
